I am a nurse-midwife, currently working at a hospital. I volunteer (bring meals) to Hospitality House, and in the past to a men’s shelter in West Seattle.

My biggest concern regarding homelessness is: How can we help?

I believe the following things contribute to homelessness: poverty, drugs & alcohol, abuse, unemployment, mental illness, lack of family support/friends.

I believe some of the solution to homelessness is jobs/training, shelter, counseling and services for the mentally ill.

What is the measuring stick to determine if a solution is successful?
Set Goals-Is the goal realistic and has it been reached. Is the goal sustainable?
